I was losing $thousands a year bc of my tax classification (thankfully, I fixed it)

In this issue:

Lettuce | Stop overpaying on taxes!

It took me 14 years to switch from an LLC to an S-Corp, and that change saved me more than $10,000 in taxes.

I don’t want you to lose gobs of money like I did. That’s why I’ve partnered with Lettuce, the awesome financial system built to help businesses of one save time and money come tax season.

We’re hosting a FREE virtual event, S Corp 101 for Solopreneurs, on December 9th at 9 am PT.

Join me and Lisa Dini, consultant, S-Corp owner, and Lettuce customer. She'll break down:

  • What S Corps are and how they can reduce your self-employment taxes
  • How Lettuce automates your S Corp setup, payroll, and filings
  • Real-world savings examples, and what to expect at your income level

If you’re a freelancer, consultant, or solo business owner earning income from clients, you’re likely overpaying thousands in self-employment taxes.

This session will show you how to fix that, and keep more of what you earn.

Expert Interview | Bob Bly

1/ How did you get started in copywriting, and what was the moment you realized, “Yep—this is my career”?

The short answer: My father hated his job, and as a result I wanted to have a job I liked. Writing was the only thing I did that I could make a living at while enjoying my work. And so I did.

2/ You’ve written dozens of books and thousands of pieces of copy. What core principles have stayed the same in your process—even as platforms, attention spans, and marketing trends have changed?

Marketing channels, technology, and methods constantly change.

But as Claude Hopkins wrote in Scientific Advertising, “human psychology has not changed in ten centuries.”

Copywriting is persuasion in print (paper and digital), and the core principles of persuasion are all rooted in human psychology.

3/ For writers trying to build a successful, long-term career today, what’s one practical skill or habit you believe matters more than anything else?

Knowing the fundamentals of the psychology of persuasion and selling.

That’s the root of it all.

If you're a content marketer, you already know video is essential. What holds most of us back isn't ideas—it's the production workflow. Recording is easy. But editing? Exporting? Uploading to five different platforms? Tracking what actually performs? That's where the wheels fall off. The Descript app for HubSpot changes this. Edit videos by editing text. Seriously—it works like editing a Google Doc. Cut filler words, rearrange sections, and create multiple versions without timeline editing or...

Hello! There’s a silly trend in content marketing right now (I blame AI and bad writers). The trend? I like to call it… Copy & Paste Marketing (C&PM). Let's call it that, okay? 👇 Wut? Do a little test. Google something popular within your niche. Try your best not to look at the brand. Click on the link. Read the article. Do you know what brand it’s from? Or does it completely lack voice? Could you simply “copy and paste” the text on any one of their competitors' websites? Probably, right?...
