Has landing new freelance clients been rough for you this year? You’re not alone. New client work has slowed for me this year, too, but one thing that is still working is building relationships. All of my projects this year have come from people I’ve connected with on LinkedIn through posts, comments, and DMs. Trust is harder to earn now, and it takes more effort than “Easy Apply” to land work. This week’s Content Connect sponsor, Taplio.com, is the tool I use to keep that relationship-building flywheel spinning. Here’s how: 1. Create connection lists. I make lists of people I want to build relationships with, including potential clients, marketing leads, and peers in my niche. Taplio.com helps surface their recent posts so I can engage meaningfully. 2. Comment with intention. Instead of random scrolling, I use their engagement feed to comment thoughtfully on posts from other professionals whom it makes sense to know. 3. Nurture two-way relationships. Taplio.com shows me who’s already engaging with my posts so I can return the favor. It’s an easy way to build reciprocity and show genuine interest in others’ work. 4. Keep the conversation going. Taplio.com highlights comments I haven’t replied to yet, which is huge. I can respond faster and keep the momentum going with people already in my orbit. And, that’s it! Taplio.com has made finding new clients so much easier for me! Check it out. P.S. You get a 7-day free trial to test everything out.

If you're a content marketer, you already know video is essential. What holds most of us back isn't ideas—it's the production workflow. Recording is easy. But editing? Exporting? Uploading to five different platforms? Tracking what actually performs? That's where the wheels fall off. The Descript app for HubSpot changes this. Edit videos by editing text. Seriously—it works like editing a Google Doc. Cut filler words, rearrange sections, and create multiple versions without timeline editing or...

Hello! There’s a silly trend in content marketing right now (I blame AI and bad writers). The trend? I like to call it… Copy & Paste Marketing (C&PM). Let's call it that, okay? 👇 Wut? Do a little test. Google something popular within your niche. Try your best not to look at the brand. Click on the link. Read the article. Do you know what brand it’s from? Or does it completely lack voice? Could you simply “copy and paste” the text on any one of their competitors' websites? Probably, right?...
