Partner | LettuceAs content creators and strategists, we're masters at planning for our clients. But when it comes to our own businesses? Most of us never actually sit down to strategically plan our year ahead. We're so focused on the next deadline, the next client deliverable, the next piece of content that strategic thinking about 2026 feels like a luxury we can't afford. But what if you had one day dedicated entirely to building your roadmap forward? That's what the Lettuce Solo Summit is on November 6, 2025. This free virtual event is designed to help sophisticated solopreneurs—including content professionals who've built thriving independent practices—think bigger about what's possible and then give you the actual frameworks to make it happen. You'll explore building financial infrastructure that minimizes taxes and maximizes wealth, implementing AI and automation that scales your creative capabilities without sacrificing quality, creating systematic lead generation that fills your pipeline with ideal clients, and breaking free from the time-for-money trap. Whether you're a content strategist, writer, creator, or consultant, this time investment will pay off in how you approach your business with the CEO-level strategic thinking it deserves, giving you the tools, insights and clarity that separate solos who thrive from those who stay stuck. Register for your 2026 planning session!
Expert Interview | Lizzie Davey1. What interesting shifts or trends have you noticed in the kind of content clients are asking for—or what’s actually performing best right now? So, I've noticed a lot of clients are asking me for experience driven pieces based on my own knowledge/experience. They're giving me way more freedom to flex my creative chops so that the content sounds (and is!) unique and story-led. As well as this, I'm getting a lot of requests for SME-led content too. I guess in a similar vein, brands want to showcase unique voices to make themselves stand out, so I'm doing a lot of interviews with internal SMEs and converting those into useful posts and guides. Finally, I'm doing a lot more content refreshes this year. Brands seem keen to update their blogs to be more unique/tie in with GEO rather than SEO. 100% building a network. Connecting with relevant people (whether that's other freelancers or the right folk at relevant companies) and building on that every single month. When you have a warm network, it's much, MUCH easier to put feelers out for work when things are feeling a bit fragile. Yes! This is something I've done for the whole of this year (and will definitely continue with future proposals because it works so well). I offer 3 packages: 1) the cheapest option, which is my base rate basically with no extras, 2) a mid-tier option that includes a few additional extras (this might be keyword research, interviews, or a few extra pieces a month), and 3) a premium package that includes either more pieces or an entire strategy experience, including keyword research, competitor research, content plan, ideation etc. Most of the time, the client will go for the mid- or premium-tier, which is better for me AND them! Hello Reader! Sorry that last week's edition had a fugly programmatic ad at the top of the newsletter. Kit had a glitch and sent y'all something dumb. I'm picky about ads & partners, so it bummed me out. :( Hopefully you saw yesterday's sponsor (a GOOD, handpicked one), Lettuce, and registered for the Solo Summit — it's going to be awesome. Hello Reader! I just did the math. Over my 16-year career, I’ve written ~4,000 assets (blogs, reports, case studies, ebooks, newsletters, ads) and edited over 10,000,000 words. I’m doubling down on this saying I have: I do homework for a living. 🤓💰And a lot of it.Here are the top lessons I've learned:1.
